Once, a student of mine said that language is the key to a country. I allways remembered this,  because it is so true and worded so beautiful!

Language is so much more than a group of words, grammar, spelling and exams. It offers you a glimse in the personality of the habitants of a country, their sense of humor, etiquette, culture and history . It is content and  with it you learn automatically about practical matters  in the Dutch society.
Without speaking Dutch, you can survive by speaking English. You just miss so much! You miss the heart of the society, understanding the Dutch people and you will take less part of the society. You will miss such a big adventure!
How nice would it to be able to marvel  how things are done, worded, experienced differently than in your culture!
You can learn again, absorb it with a curious eye, look at the world as a child.  That makes learning a language  amusing, sparkling and funny and by the way also successful!

That's how I usually look at it with my students and I hope to be able to pass that on to you too. Incidentally, this does not mean that you will learn a language more slowly.  On the contrary, you will learn faster! It also doesn't mean that I don't work effectively. Together with you, I look at your goals and we make a plan to achieve them. With a live teacher and eventually fellow students you can ask specific questions and put a lot of focus on conversations whereby it is more likely to put what you have learned into practise.
